I just read an article in Natural News about Long Term Breastfeeding and it discusses how many women in the United Kingdom and the United States either do not nurse their babies or nurse them for only the first few months.

http://www.naturalnews.com/029331_breasfeeding_babies.htmlI’ve been nursing my children non stop now for over 10 years. Each child is approximately 2.5 years apart. It is considered “natural child spacing” and is best for both the mother and baby. The benefits of nursing for both mom and baby are numerous and it is also created a wonderful bond between myself and my children.

When you first start out nursing, it does take effort and perseverance, but nursing pillows, slings and and breast creme all help. I can’t imagine being without those items. A well made organic nursing pillow and organic sling are a must!

I came out with a nursing pillow with many organic covers in fabrics (some of the designer fabrics and color grown organic fabrics are not on the web site) that will help. Please take a look at our nursing pillow page:

http://www.mommasbaby.com/item–Organic-Nursing-Pillow-by-Purely-Natural-Baby–cottonpillow.html
The nursing pillow is made in a way that it really supports the baby and is very comfy for the momma! You can also take a look at the beautiful organic slings found on this page:

Slings are definitely essential for a nursing baby!

http://www.mommasbaby.com/cat–Baby-Carriers-Baby-Slings–41.html

Slings are available in over the shoulder or a wrap style sling.
You should also have organic or hemp breast pads. Both are super comfy and washable!

http://www.mommasbaby.com/cat–Breast-Pads-Nursing-Pads–30.html

These products are also helpful for nursing. Earth Mama Angel Baby Nipple butter, Motherlove herbals are all wonderful products!

We are now starting our new line of organic Amish made moses basket rocking stands. We are excited to offer something unique and beautifully made here in the USA. To me, American made products are very important since many of the products imported from overseas are sprayed in transit. There is no guarantee that products from other countries are organic. Even our wood comes from a renewable forest in the US. That is why we decided to start out line and have it made exclusively here in the U.S.

Last weekend we had our two year old in the emergency room for ingestion of methyl alcohol which can be fatal or cause life long blindness. It was very scary! Thankfully, he was okay after they checked his blood for toxicity and watched him for several hours.

I had purchased a product for my daughters. They love to have their nails painted, but I wanted something that would not be harmful to them. The product I purchased is advertised as non-toxic and natural as mud. It also says that it is not harmful to children and hypoallergetic. I purchased both the nail polish and remover for them.

Apparently, the girls had the remover out of the closet and my little guy thought it was a bottle of water. It had no odor to it. I neglected to ever read the ingredients. I went by what the label told me - non-toxic and natural as mud. The poison control center as well as the doctor was stunned by such a label. It actually had a high concentration of fatal methyl alcohol in it!

As a parent, we must always read our labels. Never go by what is advertised! I am a mom that reads every food label and trusted the label of this product that it was safe for our little children. I came out with my organic moses baskets (100% certified organic) just for this reason. Many companies (and there is one in particular that sells a lot of them) advertise organic moses baskets and use polyester in their bedding. It’s ahsame that they do this to parents! In addition, this company recently took some of my original ideas for their own and are now selling them to other companies. It’s terrible that this happens. In addition to selling things that are cheaply made (and without organic materials), they are now also taking ideas of mine (but making cheapened products) and put a picture up of an organic moses basket that looks almost identical to mine.

Always know your ingredients and be on the lookout for cheaply made imitations as well. Unfortunately, many companies are out there to make money and not as interested in the safety of our children.

We are very happy to also be supporting the Amish community. They are old order Amish that do not even use electricity and weave the baskets to support their families. Now when you purchase a basket, you know that there is no chance of it being sprayed when it comes into the country. You can also have your babies basket signed and dated and have their name written on it!! What a wonderful heirloom piece - I am so excited about it! I want to have a baby again!

Are you suffering from infertility? Look at the foods you are eating! I recently became aware (since my son’s diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes and my thyroid disease) that gluten is a suspect! Gluten (from wheat) can really do a lot of damage if you have any allergy or sensitivity to it and it is in soooo many foods we eat daily from dressings to tomato sauce, soups etc..! I was never aware that it was hidden in so many foods until recently! There is even a correlation to Celiac disease if you have autoimmune thyroid disease. Simply removing gluten from your diet can make you better! Having taken my son off of wheat gluten, he no longer has awful tummy aches. It’s really amazing!

We will soon make available our hand woven organic Amish baskets made right here in the USA! I am soo excited to make the announcement! Everything on the basket is organic - absolutely no chemicals sprays and all made from renewable wood here in the USA. Other baskets (even if they are advertised as organic and made from natural fibers) always risk the chance of being sprayed at any point when coming into the U.S. There are no guarantees with imports. I’ve spoken at great length to many manufactures as well as suppliers about this topic. In addition, these will all be hand signed and dated and the baby’s name can also be added to the basket (lovingly woven for…).Please check back often on our web site:

It’s Spring and a time of planting. This summer we actually plan on having our own greenhouse. It will be simple, but an important aspect for our family. Already, our children are beginning to grow their own organic produce at an early age. They are already learning the importance of why it is important to eat organic vegetables/fruits. Even for moms that are pregnant, it is important that they eat organic foods as much as possible and provide organic produce for their baby.

I’ve always served our little ones organic foods. They basically eat what our family eats and if they learn early to enjoy vegetables and good things, they will continue that in their life. My children all love vegetables. They even love garlic, onions, humus and other nutritious foods. One of my babies loved avocado and my two year old just loves garlic and humus.
